Petrol prices, exchange rates and increasing taxes had opened the door to new price hikes for fuel. Fuel prices continue to rise without slowing down. The soaring dollar exchange rate, additional taxes, and price increases in global markets are reflected in consecutive fuel price hikes.
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN HISTORY
On the first day of the new year, diesel prices were 37.17 liras. After the consecutive price hikes in the past 9 days, the price of diesel had exceeded 41 liras. Another price hike is coming for diesel.
As of tonight, diesel will experience an increase of 1 lira and 38 kuruş per liter. Thus, the price of diesel, which is already above 41 liras, will exceed 42 liras for the first time in history.
WILL THERE BE A PRICE HIKE FOR GASOLINE?
Gasoline had experienced a price hike of 1 lira and 43 kuruş on January 24. Currently, there is no expectation for a new price hike or decrease in gasoline prices. However, industry representatives expect the wave of price hikes in fuel to continue next week.
WHAT WILL BE AFFECTED?
Every price hike in fuel directly increases transportation costs, causing the prices of all products to rise. Especially the increasing diesel prices hit the costs of agricultural products. Food labels on the shelves of supermarkets are frequently changing. Old labels are being replaced with price-increased labels.
