Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced last Thursday that he had dismissed Chief of General Staff Valeriy Zaluzhny and appointed Sirkiv, the Commander of the Ground Forces, in his place.

The new commander is not well-liked by the soldiers, as he is seen as responsible for heavy losses in the army, and is referred to as the “Butcher” or “General 200” by them.
